The Capital Area Food Bank is the largest organization in the Washington metro area working to solve hunger and its companion problems: chronic undernutrition, heart disease, and obesity. By partnering with 444 community organizations in DC, MD, and VA, as well as delivering food directly into hard to reach areas, the CAFB is helping 540,000 people each year get access to good, healthy food.
The Polish Supplementary School Council was established in 1925 at the initiative of Waclaw Bojan, the author of “The New World.” As catalyst for his idea, he used America’s liquidation of bilingual ethnic schools.EndFragment The Council in America emulated the role of the Polish Board of Education in Poland. Currently the Polish Supplementary School Council is an organization uniting 78 schools. It cooperates with the schools, organizing meetings, methodological training and more. It organizes interscholastic events.EndFragment PSSCA supports Polish school students who exhibit literary talent. Since 2011, the PSSCA has been founding scholarships for Polish Supplementary Schools graduates who have passed the Polish maturity examination and enrolled in a higher education institution.
